November

first acquaintance with Yijun in Shibati, Chongqing

founding of Zhongya Company in Lijinju Lane, Chongqing

took pictures on Nanshan, moved to upper floor of Yang Qing He Jewelry Shop

traveled to Chengdu to take up job at Zhongya,Yijun stayed behind in Chongqing

 

August 4

got engaged to Yijun, the Yang Qing He Jewelry shop building was bombed, returned to office in Lijinju Lane to work, the Xinchuan Restaurant was bombed.

 

September

I returned to Chengdu; Yijun got herself transferred to Chengdu from Chongqing, she came down with acute gastritis 

 

October

I traveled to Chongqing to be treated at hospital 

 

November

I returned to Chengdu; the Zhongya Company went out of business. 

 

mid-December

I returned to Chongqing; Yijun returned to Chongqing, resumed work at telecommunications branch in Chongqing. 

1941

January

I started work at the Jianye Company. 

 

February 19

We got married and lived in the Erlang Temple neighborhood of Chongqing. 

 

May

The Erlang Temple neighborhood was bombed; we moved to company dormitory. 

 

June

We moved to Dongjiaxi neighborhood; ceaseless "exhaustive" bombing by Japanese warplanes; I resigned from Jianye Company. 

 

September

I asked Mr. Fan Weizhang to find out if I could get a job at the Food and Grains Agency. 

 

November

I was recruited by Disaster Relief Agency; underwent one month of training. 

1942

January

I traveled to Jiangjin, of Sichuan province.

1909

first year of the Xuantong Era of the Qing dynasty. I was born on lunar February 25, or March 16, 1909 on the Western calendar. 

1909 to 1926 

I lived at our ancestral home "Bayanyao" ("eight eyes cave") in Xisuohuang Village of Pingding county in Shanxi province. 

1927 to early 1928 

I lived in the county town of Yuci, of Shanxi province, and worked at the private bank called Huiji Yinhao. 

early 1928 to1929 

I stayed at the "Wanfenghou Warehouse" of my uncle (on my mother's side); I was out of work. My uncle's name is Ge Zicheng. 

1929

I worked at the Dehelong Clothing and Bedding Factory in the Nanxiaoqiang district of Taiyuan, of Shanxi province. 

1930

I worked as accountant at the Xinyilong Department Store in the Ansi Street district of Taiyuan, until end of 1933. 

January of 1934 

I was recruited by the Northwest Industrial Company and received 3 months of training in its accounting training course. 

April of 1934 

I was assigned to the Local Products Marketing Cooperative of Taiyuan as accountant, until July 1936. 

August 1936 

I worked at the accounting department of the Suiyuan-Shanxi Military Industry and Minerology Prospecting Office.

March 1937 

I started working at the comprehensive review department of the Northeast Industrial Company, until August 1937﹐

October 1937 

I went to Taiyuan to stay with my second elder brother in his place in the Sanjin Shanxi Guild House. I left for Xi'an after the Double Seven Event. 

January to May 1938 

I was recruited as accountant by the Home of War Orphans of Shaanxi.

June to August 1938 

via cable by Mr. Peng Shihong, manager of the Northwest Industrial Company, I was introduced to Mr. Feng Shangwen and Mr. Zhang Shixin, and sent to Chengdu to work as accountant for the Yumin Trading Company, I lived in Shizi Lane. The major investor in the company was Mr. Shi Fengxiang. His eldest daughter was cashier. In September I took a job at the headquarters of the Fusheng Zhuang (a government agency to buy and sell textile products and foodstuffs).

November 1938 to June 1939 

I worked as accountant at the Xinchang Industrial Company, first on the north bank of the Yangtze, then moved to Zhafanggou to escape Japanese bombing. Between July and September 1939, I took a job as accountant at the joint transport office of factories that had been moved to Sichuan.

October 1939 to February 1940

I took a job as accountant at the Zhongyuan Trading Company in Chongqing. In March 1940, I took a job as accountant at the Zhongya Chemical Company, which had Mr. Zhou Jingxi as major investor. The company was to manufacture potassium chlorate as raw material for making matches. After the outbreak of the war in Europe, the machinery ordered from Belgium could not be shipped. Mr. Zhou sold the machinery to Mr. Liu Hongsheng, a major match manufacture and Zhongya operations ceased. In August 1940, I returned to Chongqing for the engagement ceremony with Yijun, after which I took Yijun with me to Chengdu, where she got a transfer to the telecommunications branch in that city. On February 19, 1941, we returned to Chongqing to get married and lived in the Erlang Temple neighborhood. 

From January 1941

I worked as accountant at the Jianye Construction Company and lived in the Dongjiaxi district. 

September 10, 1941 

I was recruited by the Disaster Relief Agency. After 2 months of training I was assigned to its Relief Works No. 1 in Jiangjin as chief accountant.

May 11, 1943 to January 1946

I was appointed assistant banking supervisor accredited to the Gansu Provincial Bank. I lived in the staff housing of the Bank, first in the Xiyuan New Village compound, later in Daosheng Lane. 

January to July 23, 1946 

Worked in the accounting department of the Zhongnan Xingji Match Manufacturing Company and lived in Xi'an. 

July 24, 1946 to November 1946 

I traveled to Hankou to purchase land for the company. I stayed at An An Hotel. I took the train and a bus on the trip to and from Hankou. 

December 1946 to October 1947 

I went back to the accounting department of the company in Xi'an and lived in the Zhongnan New Village compound. 

November 1947 

I stayed in Lanzhou to sell our matches on the Xinjiang market. I lived at the Fengcheng Warehouse. 

August 13 to September, 1948

Traveled to Hankou to obtain the deed for land purchased for the company. I boarded a flight on the morning of August 13. 

September to October 1948 

I was at the company's office in Shanghai. I set out for Taiwan on October 27 and arrived there on October 29. 

November to December 1948 

I lived at 57 Dali Street, Taipei. 

January 1949 to May 20, 1966 

For about 18 years I worked at the Yongnan Industrial Company and lived at 485-1 Zhonghua Road, Hsinchu, after living on factory premises for about half a year.

May 21, 1966 to October 13, 1969 

We left Hsinchu and moved into 21, Lane 225, Wuxing Street, Taipei. I had retired from the company on February 26, 1966 and lived in a rented house in Taipei.  

October 14, 1969 

We moved from our Wuxing Street house to our new apartment at 11, Lane 40, Qionglin Road, 4th floor, Hsinchuang, Taipei county. It was bought with a bank loan, to be paid back in instalments, with 1,016.97 ft² of floor space. We have lived here until now (at time of writing June 4, 1974).
